The True Ending of a Certain Hero
Trapped in the world of a third-rate indie game, I repeatedly took on the role of a hero tasked with rescuing the queen from the Demon King and protecting the kingdom’s peace. It was an ordinary story. The only exception was that what I truly wanted wasn’t a happy ending, but the heart of the king.
Park Nowon, an ordinary office worker, found himself trapped in a roguelike game world where there’s no save function, forcing him to restart from the beginning every time he dies.
Transformed into the game’s hero, ‘Rohan,’ he endures countless hardships and deaths, driven by his unrequited love for the NPC King Tristan.
After over 20,000 expeditions to the Demon Realm, he finally succeeds in defeating the Demon King. Yet, unable to let go of his hopeless love, he chooses to ‘restart the game.’
“You said you’d give me anything, didn’t you? Then give me a chance. A chance to start over.”
However, the world after the restart is different from the one he knew. Perhaps due to the ripple effects of having already defeated the Demon King and cleared the game, the world enters a [second playthrough] regardless of Nowon’s intentions.
New companions, unfamiliar events, stronger enemies, and a path toward the ‘true ending’ unfold before him.
[All companions have entered the passage. The gate to the Demon Realm opens.]
