Chapter Index

His heart had been pounding so hard it was painful. It might have been because of the memories of his mother engraved on Leoruka’s body.

Did Chairman Caesar also feel something and hide the story about my true self from her husband?

Suddenly, it occurred to me that the vice president still didn’t know that I was a white puppy and not a gray wolf. My mother hadn’t completely opened her heart to the vice president either. I thought there had to be a reason.

In fact, in the original work, after Leoruka committed suicide, the vice president ended up taking the position of head of the Kaisa Group.

While I was lost in thought, Abel spoke again cautiously.

“Don’t misunderstand, I just hope Leoruka doesn’t get hurt. Whatever Vice President Kai’s intentions are, I hope Leoruka doesn’t get swayed.”

    “why?”

I nodded absentmindedly, then suddenly became curious and asked. Then Abel closed his eyes and smiled kindly.

    “Because I like my junior?”

    “Yes, yes?”

What? You’re confessing all of a sudden like this? Can’t you see that things are serious right now?

Why are you suddenly like this again!

I was so shocked that I froze, my mouth wide open, unable to say a word. Abel laughed and waved his hand, perhaps because he found my expression amusing.

“No, as a junior. Because he’s a junior I like.”

“Oh, yes… Really? Is that true?”

“Why? You wish it weren’t so.”

    “That’s not it!”

Abel laughed even louder as he jumped up and down. I really don’t know what he was thinking. When I see him like this, I think he’s not a bad person.

    “Visiting time is over.”

At that moment, a cold voice suddenly came from above my head.

I looked at the wall clock in confusion. It was only 3:00 PM. What kind of visiting hours are ending at this hour, Black Panther?

“Yes? Already? The nurse said earlier that I could visit until dinner time…”

“Leo is tired. It’s time for the baby to sleep too”

“Do you know what time the baby in your stomach sleeps, junior?”

“Of course I know, because he’s my son.”

There’s no way that could happen, right?

Abel and I seemed to have the same thought in our heads, but neither of us had a chance to respond properly because of Chase’s back kick as he tried to push Abel out. Abel, who was suddenly pushed to the hospital room door, took something out of his bag as if he had suddenly remembered something and handed it to Chase.

“Oh, and this. I was originally going to give you this, but I almost forgot”

    “What is this?”

“The director prepared this for you because you said you couldn’t come to the preview. It’s the final edited version of the film.”

    “Yes!”

I sat up in bed and cheered without realizing it. I had wanted to see it anyway, but he unexpectedly gave me the edited version file.

Even in the midst of all this, Chase had a look of discontent on his face, as if he didn’t like something, but no matter when I earnestly beckoned and called out to him, he nodded his head toward Abel with an expression of helplessness.

“Thank you. Leo wanted to see it, so I’ll gladly accept it.”

“Oh. I gave that to Leoruka. As you know, it’s confidential information that can’t be leaked. Do you understand, Leoruka?”

    “Yes yes!”

So I guess that means we shouldn’t watch it together. Then should I watch it alone? But I don’t have time for that these days. I answered absentmindedly without thinking much, but Chase’s face hardened again and he became serious.

“It would be bad for the fetus, so I have to cover his eyes during violent scenes while watching it with him.”

“It’s a romantic period drama. There are violent scenes…?”

“There will be some explicit scenes.”

    “It’s an R15 movie…”

“My son is still 0 years old.”

“Oh, yes, I see… Then do as you wish and I will be going now. The visiting hours are almost over…”

Abel quickly left the room with an expression that said he had said the wrong thing. I told you, the visiting hours aren’t over yet. There were still three hours left, so I didn’t know why they were acting like that. In front of the closed door, Chase looked at me with a face that seemed to be arrogant for no reason, as if asking for praise.

So what the hell did you do well? Is Abel some kind of enemy that needs to be defeated?

That day, Chase sat next to me all night, releasing a weak pheromone

I leaned against his arm and closed my eyes. I felt the bright and fresh scent of spring flowers gently filling the hospital room. Thanks to that, my ears and tail popped out, but my mood gradually calmed down. When I looked up, I saw two black pointed ears sticking out from Chase’s head.

The next day, after feeling somewhat better, I met Director Bruno. I was worried that he would be excited after hearing the rumor, but surprisingly, the director said that he already knew about the flyer that was circulating at the securities company. The director calmly explained the situation at the time with a serious, hardened expression.

“The rumors were really loud at the time. The young master was still a minor, and if the chairman did something wrong, the vice chairman would be in control of the group and shake it up, so there was a lot of talk.”

    “Was your suspicion well-founded?”

Chase calmly continued asking questions instead of me, who was frozen in place without saying anything. Just thinking about that time made the director feel uneasy, and he shook his head with a dark face and nodded repeatedly, looking confused.

“I have a suspicion, but I have to say there is no evidence. Even after the chairman remarried, the vice chairman had no real power for a while, but right before she passed away, he created a faction within the group and grew his power. Then, he was suddenly promoted to vice chairman and his authority increased dramatically. Coincidentally, the chairman had an accident.

    “Have you done any research?”

“Of course I did. But there needs to be evidence. The car skidded on the wet road, killing both the driver and the chairman, and there were no other vehicles nearby, and most importantly, the black box.”

    “Why a black box?”

“The car was completely crushed and the black box was also damaged. They said they couldn’t restore the recording”

    “Is it so…”

In the end, the police reportedly concluded the investigation as a result of the driver’s negligence. The director and several eIders of the Kaisa family, who still had doubts, hired someone else to investigate, but were unable to find any evidence. The director’s expression as he said the case was covered up like that looked very sad.

That’s how Leoruka lost his mother.

The more I listened to the director’s story after that, the harder it became to breathe. I was an orphan who didn’t even know the faces of my biological parents, but maybe that’s why I sympathized with Leoruka’s suffering even more.

Or maybe it was because I had been living in this body for so many days that I had completely become one with Leoruka without even realizing it. That would be the case, because this pain right now just didn’t feel like someone else’s.

“I think Leo needs to rest. Director.”

Chase, who noticed my condition, interrupted the director. The director, who had been talking incoherently with a hazy look in his eyes, quickly nodded his head.

“Oh my, I made a mistake in front of you, my master, who is not feeling well. I thought it was something everyone already knew, so I just let it go without realizing it.”

“You say it’s something everyone already knows?”

But the director blurted out something unexpected as he passed by. When I opened my eyes wide in surprise and asked him again the director hesitated and answered. “You may not remember now, but you were the one who first suspected it. That’s why I also looked into it in detail.”

    “…Me? Really?”

Although he claims to have amnesia, I also know a little about Leoruka’s past. As a villainous sub-character, the original work also briefly explains Leoruka.

However, the fact that Leoruka had such doubts was not mentioned anywhere in the original work, perhaps because it was considered unimportant. But when I actually possessed the villainous sub-student, it turned out to be the most important piece of information to me.

Then was it because Leoruka suspected that the vice president was the one who killed his mother that he kept trying to get rid of the vice president? In the original, Leoruka joins the Kaisa Group early on and struggles to establish his position. When I read that scene at the time, I thought that Leoruka felt a sense of crisis as a young successor with no achievements other than being the only son of the deceased chairman, compared to the vice chairman who already had a faction and a support base.
