KNEEL TO ME

This novel is a work of fiction; characters, organizations, incidents, buildings, and locations appearing in it have no relation to actual facts.

Actual works of art are mixed with fictional elements.

Mi Hansol is a curator, art appraiser, and a “foul-mouthed motor-mouth from hell” hidden behind the mask of a rabbit. When a fragment of the long-missing Great Buddha—the Golden Amitabha Buddha Seated Statue—is discovered in Seoul, he is forced (against his will) to collaborate with the OCBC, a French public art investigation agency.

Neil Graham is an art detective belonging to the OCBC who appears at the airport with a smashed bridge of his nose. Unlike the prickly Hansol, he is a carefree, positive energizer who lives by the power of a good meal. But somehow, it feels like we’ve met before? In a day filled with intense incidents and accidents in the art world—marked by ultimate banter and constant bickering—will they be able to make it through safely? Stay tuned.

“What is the secret to becoming an appraiser at such a young age?”

Without blinking an eye, Mi Hansol makes a bitter joke.

“Couch promotion.”

Neil thinks he should behave himself.

Neil (Top): Real name Nigel Daniel Graham. An art detective belonging to the OCBC. Behind his easygoing smile, there is a somewhat inscrutable side to him. He has known and liked Hansol for a long time, but it is still a secret.

Mi Hansol (Bottom): A curator at Gallery <Jumyeong> and one of the few official art appraisers in Korea. He is polite to the elderly and the weak, but fundamentally, he is prickly and acerbic; despite being a human himself, he dislikes humans. Having had a past romance fail spectacularly, he finds himself constantly conscious of Neil.
